If someone drank the river water immediately after the blast, but somehow managed to avoid the blast, would they suffer the same effects? If so, would the effects be to the same degree?

Hi,
Hope the McMaster group had a good time in Heroshima, I'm sure it was interesting to see all of the affected areas in result of the A-bomb.
I'm interested in the adverse effects radiation has on human health. I know cancers developed due to exposure, and was told by Susan when she visted our school that contamination of the bodies of water and the land lead to long term health problems. Did your team find any statistics as to how many cancer deaths among the bomb survivors were.....

If pilots are exposed to excess radiation, especially around the polar regions, would it be possible that some pilots have lower risks of developing tumors?
