Relationship of cancer and radiation.

Posted By: andrewc, CCI on Thursday, June 01, 2006

Hi,

Hope the McMaster group had a good time in Heroshima, I'm sure it was interesting to see all of the affected areas in result of the A-bomb.

I'm interested in the adverse effects radiation has on human health. I know cancers developed due to exposure, and was told by Susan when she visted our school that contamination of the bodies of water and the land lead to long term health problems. Did your team find any statistics as to how many cancer deaths among the bomb survivors were attributed to radiation? Furthermore, are these radiation-induced cancers still occuring within the families of the survivors? Thanks, and look forward to your reply.
